Overview

A bimetallic casino chip token from the Colorado Belle Casino in Laughlin, Nevada.

Historical significance

The Colorado Belle was a landmark riverboat-themed hotel and casino in Laughlin. These 'silver strike' style bimetallic chips were used as gaming tokens and souvenirs before casinos moved to digital/paper ticketing.

Obverse (front)

Central metal insert features the Colorado Belle riverboat logo, '$1', 'Laughlin, Nev.', and 'BJ' mark. Outer white plastic ring features the casino name and red/blue dash stripes.

Reverse (back)

Design is identical to the obverse, featuring the riverboat logo, denomination, and casino name on the outer ring.

Estimated value

$1-$5 (Circulated)

What drives this coin's value

Condition of the metal insert (checking for toning or corrosion) and the cleanliness of the white plastic ring.

Grade assessment

Very Fine/Extremely Fine (VF-XF); shows minor handling marks and contact hits on the brass insert.

Mintage & rarity

Common; mass-produced for casino circulation.

Authenticity & counterfeit red flags

Genuine Bud Jones chips have specific 'injection' spots on the plastic edge and high-quality hot stamp foil lettering.

Notable varieties & errors

No major die varieties, but color variations in the outer rings can exist.

Similar coins

Often confused with genuine .999 Silver Strike tokens; this version has a brass/bronze middle and is a lower denomination.

Care & preservation

Do not clean with harsh chemicals as it may degrade the plastic ring. Store in a cool, dry place to prevent 'PVC damage' from old plastic flips.
