Brief Description

The obverse features the profile of George Washington facing left, with LIBERTY at the top, the date at the bottom, and the Philadelphia mint mark 'P' to the right of the bust.

Historical Significance

The Washington quarter was first introduced in 1932 to commemorate the 200th birthday of George Washington. This 1985 specimen represents a later year of the clad (non-silver) composition introduced in 1965.
