Historical Significance

Issued from 1948 to 1963, this coin replaced the Walking Liberty design and honored Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. It was the last half-dollar series minted in 90% silver for its entire regular production run before being replaced by the Kennedy Half Dollar following the JFK assassination.
