Brief Description

The reverse features the Badge of the Prince of Wales: a plume of three ostrich feathers enfiling a coronet of crosses pattée and fleurs-de-lis with the motto ICH DIEN (I serve).

Historical Significance

This coin was part of the first decimal series in the UK. The word 'NEW' was used to distinguish decimal pence from the old pre-decimal pennies. After 1981, the word 'NEW' was replaced by 'TWO'.
