Brief Description

The reverse features a Feathertail Glider (Acrobates pygmaeus), a small possum species, wrapped around the numeral '1'. The obverse (not shown) depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Introduced on February 14, 1966, this coin was part of Australia's transition to decimal currency. It replaced the farthing, halfpenny, and penny. The design was created by Stuart Devlin.
