Brief Description

Small, copper-colored coin. The obverse features the denomination '10 aur' at the top with a stylized design of four squid (calamari) swimming. The reverse typically shows the Icelandic coat of arms.

Historical Significance

This coin belongs to the second kronur series introduced in 1981 following a major revaluation of the Icelandic currency. The aurar (singular: eyrir) is a subdivision of the Icelandic krona. Due to high inflation, the 10 aurar was later removed from circulation as its value became negligible.
