Brief Description

The reverse features a voyageur and an Indigenous person paddling a birch-bark canoe past a wind-swept island with two pines. Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) appear in the background. The obverse features King George V.

Historical Significance

This was Canada's first circulating silver dollar. It was issued to celebrate the 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of the reign of King George V. The 'Voyageur' design by Emanuel Hahn became one of the most iconic images in Canadian numismatics.
