The obverse features a profile of Abraham Lincoln facing right, while the reverse typically features two ears of wheat. Due to its composition, the coin has a silver-colored, metallic appearance rather than the usual copper color.

Historical Significance

Commonly known as a 'Steelie,' this coin was minted for only one year during World War II to conserve copper for the war effort (specifically for shell casings and ammunition). It is the only regular-issue United States coin that can be picked up with a magnet.
