Historical Significance
Introduced in 1948, this coin replaced the Walking Liberty design. It was the first United States circulating coin to feature a person who was not a president. Kennedy, after which the Kennedy Half Dollar was introduced.
Estimated Value
$10 - $25 (Value depends heavily on the specific mint mark on the reverse and the overall condition/grade of the coin; silver bullion value is approximately $10).
Care Instructions
Do not clean or polish the coin, as this can severely damage its numismatic value by creating micro-scratches. Handle the coin by its edges to prevent oils from skin transferring to the surface. Store in an acid-free holder or a cool, dry place.
