Historical Significance
The Lincoln Cent was the first US coin to feature a portrait of a person. The 1953-D issue was struck at the Denver Mint during the post-WWII era. These coins are part of the 'Wheat Cent' series which ran from 1909 to 1958, designed by Victor David Brenner to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.
