The obverse features a left-facing profile of John F. Kennedy with the inscriptions 'LIBERTY', 'IN GOD WE TRUST', and the year '1996'. A small 'P' mint mark for Philadelphia is visible above the date.

Historical Significance

The Kennedy Half Dollar was first minted in 1964 as a memorial to the assassinated 35th President of the United States. While initially very popular, the coin gradually fell out of general circulation and is now primarily minted for collectors.
