Brief Description

The obverse of the coin features a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty, with a radiant crown reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed above, "IN GOD WE TRVST" below, and the year "1926" at the bottom.

Historical Significance

The Peace Dollar was minted from 1921 to 1928, and again in 1934 and 1935. It was designed by Anthony de Francisci to commemorate the end of World War I and the subsequent peace. It is the last U.S. dollar coin to be struck for circulation in 90% silver, and its design reflects the nation's optimism for peace during that era.
