Brief Description

A square-shaped coin with rounded corners. The obverse features the coat of arms of Bahawalpur State, which depicts a crescent and star above a shield with two crossed tulwars (swords) and palm leaves.

Historical Significance

Issued under Sadiq Muhammad Khan V, the last ruling Nawab of Bahawalpur. These coins represent the autonomous minting rights of princely states in India prior to the partition and independence of 1947. Bahawalpur was a significant state that eventually acceded to Pakistan.
