Brief Description

Historical Significance

Designed by Louis-Oscar Roty in 1897 and revived for the New Franc in 1960, the Sower is a national emblem of France representing the Republic spreading the seeds of liberty and the industrious spirit of the French people. It was a primary circulation coin until the adoption of the Euro.
