Sacagawea Dollar
Country of Origin: United States of America
Year of Issue: 2000
Denomination: 1 US Dollar
Composition: Manganese-brass clad copper (88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel)

Brief Description
The obverse features Sacagawea with her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, looking toward the viewer. The reverse depicts a soaring bald eagle surrounded by 17 stars.
Historical Significance
Introduced in 2000 to replace the Susan B. Anthony dollar, it honors Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who helped the Lewis and Clark Expedition explore the Louisiana Territory. It was the first US coin to feature a woman of color and the first to use a 'golden' metallic composition to distinguish it from a quarter.
Estimated Value
$1.00 USD (Face value). Most circulated 2000-P or 2000-D Sacagawea dollars are only worth their face value. Uncirculated or rare 'Wounded Eagle' or 'Cheerios' varieties can be worth significantly more.
Care Instructions
Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid cleaning or polishing the coin, as this can damage the surface and reduce its numismatic value. Handle by the edges to avoid fingerprints.
