Brief Description

Obverse features the head of George Washington facing left with 'LIBERTY' above, 'IN GOD WE TRUST' to the left, and the date below. The reverse (not shown) typically depicts an eagle with wings spread.

Historical Significance

The Washington Quarter was first issued in 1932 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth. The design by John Flanagan replaced the Standing Liberty quarter.
