Brief Description

The reverse side depicts Mount Chocorua, the easternmost peak of the Sandwich Range, framed by birch trees. The obverse features the profile of George Washington.

Historical Significance

This is the 16th coin in the 'America the Beautiful Quarters' Program. It honors the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, which was established in 1918 to protect the mountainous region from over-logging.
