Brief Description
A teal-colored note featuring a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill on the reverse side. It includes a view of the Palace of Westminster, Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), and Churchill's famous quote: 'I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat'.
Historical Significance
This was the first polymer banknote released by the Bank of England. It honors Sir Winston Churchill, the wartime Prime Minister, for his leadership during WWII. Unlike previous paper notes, this version was designed to be cleaner, stronger, and more difficult to counterfeit.
Estimated Value
Face value (£5) if in circulated condition; up to £10-£15 if uncirculated with a low or unique serial number.
Care Instructions
Avoid extreme heat as polymer can melt or shrink. Do not iron. While the note is water-resistant, it should be kept away from harsh chemicals and stored flat to avoid permanent creasing.
