Susan B. Anthony Dollar
Country of Origin: United States
Year of Issue: 1999
Denomination: One Dollar
Composition: Copper-nickel clad (Copper core, Manganese brass clad)

Brief Description
The obverse features a portrait of Susan B. Anthony, surrounded by 13 stars. Above her head is “LIBERTY” and to her right “IN GOD WE TRUST”. The year “1999” is below her portrait. The reverse typically features an eagle landing on the moon, a common design for early US dollar coins.
Historical Significance
The Susan B. Anthony dollar was the first U.S. coin to feature a real woman rather than an allegorical figure. It was introduced in 1979 to replace the Eisenhower dollar, but its similarity in size and reeding to the quarter dollar led to public confusion and limited acceptance. Production ceased in 1981, but it was briefly minted again in 1999 to meet demand until the Sacagawea dollar was released.
Estimated Value
For a 1999 Susan B. Anthony dollar in circulated condition, the value is typically around its face value, "$1.00". Uncirculated coins might fetch "$2.00 - $5.00" or more depending on their grade and mint mark.
Care Instructions
Handle the coin by its edges to avoid transferring oils from your skin, which can cause discoloration over time. Store it in a cool, dry place in an inert holder, such as a Mylar flip or a non-PVC coin slab, to protect its surface and prevent environmental damage. Avoid cleaning the coin, as this can devalue it significantly.
