Brief Description

The obverse features a profile of President John F. Kennedy facing left with the word "LIBERTY" above and "IN GOD WE TRUST" flanking his neck. The date "1964" is at the bottom.

Historical Significance

Released in early 1964 as a memorial to President Kennedy after his assassination in 1963. This is the only year the coin was intended for circulation with a 90% silver content.
