Historical Significance

Designed by Victor David Brenner and first issued in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, this was the first widely circulated U.S. coin to feature a historical person. By 1952, the United States was in the midst of the Korean War and the Cold War era.

Care Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture to prevent corrosion or verdigris. Handle by the edges to avoid transferring oils from skin. Do not attempt to clean the coin with chemicals or abrasives, as this can severely decrease its numismatic value.
