The obverse features Sacagawea looking back with her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, strapped to her back. The reverse (for the 2000 issue) depicts a soaring bald eagle surrounded by 17 stars.

Historical Significance

Introduced in 2000 to replace the Susan B. Anthony dollar, this coin honors Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who helped the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Since 2009, the reverse design changes annually to celebrate Native American contributions to history.

Estimated Value

$1.00 - $3.00 (Standard circulation coins are generally worth face value; uncirculated or proof versions are higher.)

Care Instructions

Avoid cleaning or scrubbing the coin as it can damage the surface and reduce collector value. Store in a cool, dry place inside an acid-free holder or flip.
